15 million HUF fine imposed by the NNGYK for unlawful medicinal product promotion practices
2025. May 5.The National Center for Public Health and Pharmacy (NNGYK) imposed a fine of 15 million HUF on a Company (“Company”) with promotional activity for multiple violations of regulations related to the promotion of medicinal products in April 2025. The NNGYK’s investigation focused on four professional, scientific, or educational events sponsored by the Company. At these events, healthcare professionals gave presentations in which the materials displayed medicinal products that are part of the Company’s portfolio.
The NNGYK also objected that the Company did not invite participants in accordance with the legal requirements, given that there were participants present who did not have the necessary qualifications required by law in force. In addition, the Company failed to notify the events on multiple occasions, despite the fact that they were attended by professionals authorised to prescribe medicinal products, therefore there was a clear obligation to notify. Due to the identified violation, the NNGYK prohibited the continuation of the contested practice and imposed a fine on the Company.
